Mike Latto is a Filmmaker and Lecturer in Film and Media living in Bournemouth, England. He studied a Media Production degree at Bournemouth University and an MA in Film Studies and European Cinema at U.W.E. in Bristol. He was awarded a PhD by Bournemouth University for his research and practice in poetic documentary, completing a study of Kyiv, Ukraine as a chosen site of cultural interest.

In the past he has worked as a camera operator for television producers and broadcasters, working on news items, sports programming and documentaries. His recent work has been exhibited at prestigious venues including the Tate Modern and broadcast with Sky and the BBC.

The past twenty five years he has been committed to a career in film and media education as a lecturer in FE & HE. Alongside, developing his own practice and film work to explore experimental and observational modes of representation. Key interests focus on film aesthetics, landscape, human behaviour and definitions of culture, and identity.
